Elden Campbell died at 57. He played eight and a half seasons of a 15-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers and attended Morningside High while growing up locally. Drafted in the first round out of Clemson in 1990, he averaged 10.3 points and 5.9 rebounds for his career. Campbell won a 2004 NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons over the Lakers. His best season came with the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 15.3 points and 9.4 rebounds. Known as 'Easy E,' he combined effortless play, calm demeanor, defense, and a scoring touch and joined the 2025 SoCal Basketball Hall of Fame class.
