Doug Moe starred in the ABA in the 1960s, earning three All-Star selections and helping the Oakland Oaks win the 1969 championship. He transitioned to coaching as an assistant under Larry Brown and served as the San Antonio Spurs head coach for four seasons beginning in 1976. Hired by Denver in 1980, he implemented a run-and-gun offense that led the league in scoring six times and produced nine straight postseason appearances. Moe compiled a 432-357 record in Denver—the franchise record until Michael Malone broke it—retired 628-529 overall (19th most NBA wins) and received the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. He died at 87.
