BYU's Dybantsa nets freshman-record 40 in Big 12 tourney win
"What he was doing was impressive because I thought he was scoring every way possible. I think it was probably one of his most complete games. But I thought it was just a full display of his skillset. I think he's the most skilled player in college basketball."
"Today I was just trying to focus on a win. Whatever it took to just get the win."
BYU forward AJ Dybantsa delivered an exceptional performance in the Big 12 tournament first round, scoring 40 points alongside 9 rebounds and 6 assists to secure a 105-91 victory over Kansas State. Dybantsa established the Big 12 tournament scoring record for a freshman, surpassing Kevin Durant's previous mark of 37 points. His performance included 15 made field goals, a Big 12 tournament record, and marked his sixth 35-point game this season. He created 54 total points through scoring and assists, the most in Big 12 tournament history. Dybantsa, considered a top-three NBA draft prospect alongside Duke's Cameron Boozer and Kansas's Darryn Peterson, demonstrated his complete skill set throughout the game.
