James Nnaji, the 31st overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft who never played an NBA game, signed with Baylor after time in the FC Barcelona organization and 51 EuroLeague appearances. Nnaji represents the first former NBA draft pick cleared to play men's college basketball this season, joining a wave of international and G League players moving to college programs. Baylor coach Scott Drew framed the signing as adapting to the current college-basketball climate to position the team for success. Several coaches criticized midseason additions and pointed to a lack of clear organizational rules governing such moves.
