Richie Adubato died at age 87, his family announced. He coached the New York Liberty from 1999 to 2004, taking the team to three WNBA Finals and setting the franchise record with 178 games coached. He ranks second in franchise wins with 100 victories while coaching players including Teresa Weatherspoon and Becky Hammon. Adubato served as interim head coach of the Orlando Magic in 1997 after years as an assistant and was the team's radio analyst from 2005 to 2020. Family, the Liberty and the Magic remembered him for warmth, humor, energy and a lasting coaching legacy.
