New York has extended the application deadline for its third round of broadband funding under the BEAD program, with a new deadline set for May 12. This round, part of the ConnectALL initiative, focuses on innovative technology solutions. In contrast, Florida has initiated the Broadband Grant Registration Portal to facilitate preregistration for applicants before launching various BEAD funding programs aimed at enhancing broadband infrastructure and promoting economic opportunities, particularly in rural and small communities.
The state previously accepted applications for two rounds of funding in the deployment program. The request for applications in the third round, known as 'Priority, Reliable and Alternative Technology Solutions,' was released on April 14.
According to the state's Office of Broadband, the portal is 'a precursor to the Broadband Application Portal.' Eligible applicants will preregister in the registration portal to receive credentials for the application portal.
These programs will provide funding for broadband infrastructure, workforce and economic opportunities, cybersecurity and digital literacy initiatives across Florida, especially in Florida's small cities and rural communities.
Florida has begun registering qualified parties for various broadband funding programs, including BEAD.
