Inside the booming edibles economy
Briefly

In 2017, Nathan Cozzolino started Rose, a "farm to edibles" brand, but struggled with high overhead costs. In July 2023, he shifted production entirely to hemp, letting go of cannabis licenses and downsizing facilities. The transition allowed Rose to start selling directly to customers online, leading to immediate profitability. Now, they sell more products than they can produce while focusing on their agricultural roots and creating low-dose edibles, reflecting a larger trend in the cannabis market towards hemp-derived products.
Rose is part of a bigger shift in the cannabis industry toward hemp-derived edibles, which can give users much of the same effects as cannabis-derived THC at lower dosages.
Being able to sell online directly to our customer in a responsible way has been what Rose has needed to fully realize our potential as a company.
