Sam Ressler, a 26-year-old NYC resident, invested $1,200 in motorized Moonwalkers Aero shoes to cut his commute from Astoria to SoHo. These innovative shoes, developed by Shift Robotics, allow users to travel at speeds up to 7 mph, effectively halving walking time. Ressler appreciates their compact design for limited living space and finds them preferable to other transport options like bikes or scooters, which can be cumbersome. He believes the shoes' convenience justifies the higher cost compared to biking alternatives.
"I'm in a pretty tight, cramped New York City apartment, so I don't have room to fit a bike in here. I don't really have room for a scooter."
"All the intermediary times that I'm using to take the bike ... I'm not really saving all that much time," Ressler explained.
