Can a Miami college student be the next Steve Jobs? It could start here
Briefly

Miami Dade College (MDC) has initiated the Miami Startup Ecosystem Internship Program, providing 200 students with $20-an-hour internships at participating local tech startups and small businesses. The program, aimed at enhancing students' employment prospects, is funded largely by Blackstone and JPMorganChase, and will focus on tech, hospitality, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors. With a total budget of $1 million, MDC will evaluate the program's impact after two years, aspiring to replicate the mentorship and networking opportunities that benefitted Steve Jobs in his youth.
Students with paid internships are twice as likely to land a job after graduation compared to non-interns," Maura Pally, executive director of the Blackstone Charitable Foundation, said in a statement. "We're doubling down on our commitment to their success and to Miami's future."
