Brooklyn Heights auto shop 'targeted' by serial 311 caller
Briefly

New Xcell Auto Repair, the last auto repair shop in Brooklyn Heights, is under threat of closure due to a surge of 311 complaints regarding parking violations. Owner Eric Han claims the business has been repeatedly targeted, receiving 300-400 complaints over a few months from what he believes is a single individual. Han describes how complaints are filed almost immediately after minor parking infractions or deliveries, impacting his operational efficiency and threatening a family-owned shop established in 1972.
Han stated, 'It was 20-40 a day, now it's 5-10 a day. Every time a delivery truck pulls up for five minutes, or someone pulls into my driveway to ask a question, boom, a complaint is immediately filed.'
Han expressed concern saying, 'This guy probably watches the DOT traffic cam and files a complaint online the second a car is on the sidewalk.'
Eric Han described the situation, saying, 'When the police get here 20 minutes later the delivery truck is gone. It's harassment.'
Referring to the complaint that arrived shortly after a car was dropped, Han said, 'A 311 complaint was filed and police showed up within a half hour, long after the truck had left.'
