The Surrey hotel in New York City’s Upper East Side combines luxury and history, reopening after renovation by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Built in 1926, it once accommodated A-List guests. The hotel features 70 rooms and 30 suites, with four inspired by Central Park’s iconic bridges, offering amenities like fireplaces and butler service. Its design includes Murano chandeliers and a color palette of cream, gold, and terra-cotta, creating a chic and powerful ambiance. Dining at the Casa Tua restaurant enhances its appeal, drawing an upscale crowd to the neighborhood.
The Surrey has 70 rooms and 30 suites, four of which are inspired by iconic bridges in Central Park, and have fireplaces, soaking tubs, and butler service.
The design is restrained and richly textured: the 100 rooms and suites are outfitted with Murano chandeliers; cream, gold, and terra-cotta tones; and grass cloth lining the walls.
Having an outpost of Casa Tua, the swank restaurant and members' club with locations in Miami and Aspen, has certainly drawn the in-crowd, who are lining up for the phenomenal hand-cut pappardelle.
The property feels like an extension of the neighborhood's stately townhouses. Stepping into the lobby, there's a purely New York feeling: chic, in-the-know, and quietly powerful.
