Frustrated by the opaque apartment hunting process in New York City, data scientist Ilias Miraoui and developer Adam Sebti launched RentReboot to highlight rent-stabilized unit listings. The website alerts users when rent-stabilized apartments appear on the market by matching them with the city's official rent-stabilized building list. Users can receive customized alerts based on their search criteria. Since its launch, RentReboot has gained significant traction with 20,000 signups, making it easier for renters to find affordable housing options.
"The idea is to show that information and make it more public, so everyone can have a chance," said software developer Adam Sebti.
"Ilias Miraoui devised a plan to navigate the hellscape that is apartment hunting in New York City, which led to the launch of RentReboot."
