Big reveal! The Flatiron Building is back after nearly a decade of being covered in scaffolding
"Crews have begun shedding layers of scaffolding that kept the Flatiron Building covered since before the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing New Yorkers and visitors to once again bask in its glory."
"The Flatiron Building, which opened in 1902 and became a city landmark in 1966, is undergoing a makeover that includes a new exterior, lighting, and updates as part of its conversion from office to residential use."
"Reps from the Flatiron NoMad Partnership stated that spring is a perfect time to visit the new and improved Flatiron Building, with activities nearby including a classic photo opportunity and a 30-foot art installation."
The iconic Flatiron Building is undergoing renovations and has begun removing scaffolding that has covered it since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The NYC Landmarks and Preservation Committee announced that the building is being updated for a conversion from office space to luxury residential units. The 22-story building, a city landmark since 1966, will also be illuminated for the first time this spring. Half of the scaffolding has already been removed, allowing visitors to enjoy the classic NYC view once again.
