Wildfire smoke from New Jersey expected to reach NYC
Briefly

A fast-moving wildfire in New Jersey has significantly affected air quality in the region, with smoke expected to reach New York City by Wednesday night. Currently, about 40% of the blaze is contained, yet challenging weather conditions, including dry brush and wind, could hinder progress. Residents have been urged by the Office of Emergency Management to remain vigilant about their health and safety, especially if conditions worsen, making it necessary to wear masks again.
"If the warning comes out that it's like, hey, you have to wear the masks again, I'll do it for the sake of everybody," said resident Nicole Ulloa.
Fire officials say roughly 40% of the blaze has been contained, but dry brush, sunny skies and windy conditions are contributing to its continued spread.
