Three Manhattan federal prosecutors, Celia Cohen, Andrew Rohrbach, and Derek Wikstrom, resigned after accusing the Trump Justice Department of pressuring them to falsely confess to wrongdoing in Mayor Eric Adams' corruption case. They emphasized that there was no evidence of any misconduct, as stated by the presiding judge, Dale Ho. The controversy arose after the DOJ attempted to dismiss the case, which the former SDNY head criticized as a quid pro quo arrangement with Adams. The prosecutors vehemently denied any improper actions, expressing their refusal to admit guilt where none existed.
'We will not confess wrongdoing when there was none,' the three prosecutors wrote in a scathing one-page letter obtained by Politico.
'The record before the Court indicates that the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York prosecutors who worked on this case followed all appropriate Justice Department guidelines.'
