"I believe Zohran Mamdani poses a danger to the security of the New York Jewish community,"
"As Jews, ahavat Israel - love of Israel - does take precedence over other loves,"
"I urge you to reconsider your long-held views of Israel's right to exist."
"Most Jews are deeply offended by your ongoing accusations of Israeli genocide."
There are 15 days until the mayoral election. Two prominent New York rabbis publicly condemned Zohran Mamdani while he holds a commanding lead. Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove said Mamdani poses a danger to the security of the New York Jewish community and urged congregants to prioritize love of Israel over local issues when voting. Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch said Mamdani's ideological commitments delegitimize the Jewish community, urged Mamdani to reconsider his views on Israel's right to exist, and said many Jews are offended by accusations of Israeli genocide. Polling shows Jewish voters are closely split between Mamdani and Andrew Cuomo.
