In a competitive set of city council primaries in Southern Brooklyn, Kayla Santosuosso secured a dominant victory in the Democratic primary for District 47, garnering nearly 80% of the votes against Fedir Usmanov. Meanwhile, the Republican primary remains tight, with George Sarantopoulos leading Richie Barsamian by only 32 votes. In District 48, Inna Vernikov also won her Republican primary against Ari Kagan. Both Santosuosso and Vernikov expressed gratitude and excitement for their upcoming campaigns in November.
I am thrilled and honored to be your democratic nominee for City Council in southern Brooklyn. Now the real work begins. I'm excited to lead us to victory in November.
It's becoming clear that we won this primary. Now is the time for unity as we face a potential Mamdani mayoralty. I am calling for all Republicans to come together.
Tonight, I am beyond grateful to The People of the 48th for giving me an opportunity to lead this district for another four years.
