At its annual Legislative Breakfast, the Met Council honored Brooklyn's City Councilmember Susan Zhuang and Assemblymember William Colton for their dedication to public service. Zhuang received the award for her role as a Champion for Public Health, celebrated for her efforts in providing essential services like mobile food pantries and assistance with SNAP applications. She emphasized the Met Council's longstanding commitment to aiding the needy in diverse communities. Assemblymember Colton was also recognized, with his collaboration alongside Zhuang noted as significant due to their overlapping districts, which include culturally rich areas like Sunset Park.
"The Met Council has a long history of helping the hungry, the poor, and people of any background. I know I can call on the Met Council when anyone needs help," said Councilmember Zhuang.
Zhuang is known in her community as a fighter who brings her constituents necessary services, including mobile food pantries, SNAP application help, and filing taxes.
