Mayor Eric Adams has been denied access to $4 million in public campaign funds due to ongoing suspicions from the City Campaign Finance Board regarding potential campaign finance violations. Although a federal court dismissed the corruption case against him, board members remain concerned about past indictments and alleged straw donations related to his re-election efforts. Adams firmly maintains that his campaign has not engaged in any illegal activity, and his team pledges to pursue legal avenues to secure the denied funds.
"Let us be clear: the campaign has not engaged in any illegal behavior, nor has it participated in any dishonest or unethical conduct," said spokesman Todd Shapiro.
"Everything here smacks of a bargain: dismissal of the indictment in exchange for immigration policy concessions," Ho wrote in a 78-page ruling.
