Mamdani says his Israel stance is core to 'Trump-proofing' NYC - Jewish Telegraphic Agency
Briefly

A Siena Institute poll reveals contrasting opinions about Zohran Mamdani in New York City versus the rest of the state. While he holds a 19-point lead in the city, Jewish voters expressed significant disapproval, with 75% outside the city viewing him unfavorably. Other candidates also received negative ratings from surveyed Jews, with 61% disliking Eric Adams and 54% disapproving of Andrew Cuomo. Mamdani's Israel stance is key to his strategy of 'Trump-proofing' NYC, as he aims to secure votes while addressing concerns about federal influence.
Across the state, 75% of Jews reported an unfavorable opinion of Mamdani, a much greater share than 37% of voters overall.
Surveyed Jews did not particularly like the other candidates, either - 61% had a negative view of Mayor Eric Adams, 54% said the same of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and 38% said the same of Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
A narrower focus on New York City showed Mamdani leading the race by 19 points, similar to his performance in other recent polls.
In an interview, Mamdani said his stance on Israel was part of his plan to "Trump-proof" the city.
