Joseph Nocella, Jr. has commenced his role as Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, following his swearing in on May 5, 2025, by Chief District Judge Margo K. Brodie. Appointed by President Trump and Attorney General Pamela Bondi, his interim service will last for 120 days unless a permanent nominee is confirmed. Previously a Nassau County Family Court Judge, Nocella's extensive legal background includes serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, where he focused on serious crimes such as narcotics trafficking and organized crime.
