In a recent interview, HUD Secretary Scott Turner expressed the importance of being accountable for taxpayer money, stating that it is vital to ensure federal funds meet their intended goals. He discussed potential measures such as withholding funds from cities that do not comply with required audits. Turner highlighted significant achievements, including the removal of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule, the establishment of public-private partnerships in combating homelessness, and the end of DEI contracts, asserting they result in substantial savings for taxpayers.
We have to take inventory of that and study and research what's going on and what's not being done. One thing about this is taxpayer money.
Our job is to be good stewards & make sure it's actually accomplishing the goal and the mission that it's been called to accomplish.
Turner also credited the elimination of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) contracts as a cost savings for taxpayers.
No longer can illegal aliens get FHA-backed mortgages, Turner said. The Biden administration was turning a blind eye.
