SaveNYC, an independent expenditure group, plans to oppose Zohran Mamdani in the upcoming mayoral election. Led by former officials like Ray Kelly and Betsy McCaughey, the group will execute an aggressive outreach campaign, including door-to-door canvassing and a social media strategy. Their objective is to inform voters of the dangers posed by Mamdani's policies. Despite Mamdani's recent Democratic primary victory, SaveNYC seeks to mobilize significant resources to undermine his candidacy before November's election.
"Mamdani claims to have knocked on 1 million doors. We can out-knock him," a SaveNYC fundraising email says.
"We have a plan. We're going to be on the ground by the end of July," Ms. McCaughey tells the New York Sun, where she is an occasional contributor.
"Mamdani's big spending plans will put New York on the brink of bankruptcy, leading to severe cuts in city services, including police and sanitation."
In a major upset, Mr. Mamdani won the city's Democratic primary two weeks ago.
