Former Governor Andrew Cuomo addressed a $450,000 taxpayer-funded settlement related to sexual harassment allegations, attributing it to political motivations while expressing confidence in his innocence. Speaking at Calvary Baptist Church on Easter, he commented on the need to avoid politicizing legal claims, suggesting the settlement was a nuisance decision by the state. Cuomo reflected on current societal negativity in his speech and offered a vision for unity as he campaigns for mayor of New York City amid lingering controversies from his previous administration's COVID policies.
I was dropped from the suit, so it was up to the state. The state did a settlement, which was basically settling a nuisance suit - sometimes it [costs] more to litigate than to settle.
That's why you can't politicize these things. If you start allowing political lawsuits and claims, then the taxpayers are gonna be paying a lot of money.
Let us rise above the chaos and the clamor so America may hear its better angels.
