Bloomberg endorses former aide in crowded New York House race
"We face extraordinary challenges both at home and abroad. At a moment like this, New Yorkers need representatives with the imagination to offer bold new ideas, the experience to get big things done, and the courage to take on the toughest fights. That's why I will be voting for @MicahLasher for Congress this year."
"I counted on Micah when I was Mayor, and he delivered for our city. I look forward to supporting him this June, and I hope you will, too. He was a key part of our team in City Hall, where he helped secure the city's fair share from Albany and advanced the cause of gun safety."
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed state Rep. Micah Lasher for Congress in New York's 12th Congressional District Democratic primary. Lasher, who has served in the State Assembly since January 2025 representing Manhattan Valley and parts of the Upper West Side, previously worked for both Bloomberg and retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler. Bloomberg praised Lasher's experience, highlighting his role in securing fair funding from Albany and advancing gun safety initiatives during his tenure in City Hall. Bloomberg, worth $109 billion, is willing to spend up to $5 million supporting Lasher's campaign. The primary election is scheduled for June 23, with Lasher's campaign holding over $1.1 million in funds as of year-end.
