Her campaign emphasized grassroots donations, with an average contribution of just $21 and 64% of donors being first-time contributors. Ocasio-Cortez continues to shun corporate PACs and lobbyists, focusing instead on support from teachers and nurses. This achievement comes ahead of her 'Fighting Oligarchy' tour with Senator Bernie Sanders, aimed at energizing progressives against the Republican establishment.
"AOC had her strongest ever quarter, raising over $9.5m from 266k individual donors for an average of just $21," Ocasio-Cortez's senior adviser Oliver Hidalgo-Wohlleben claimed on X.
"AOC doesn't take a dollar from lobbyists or corporate PACS. Our top donor professions are teachers and nurses. 64% were first-time contributors."
