Attorney General Andrea Campbell is actively seeking an increase in funding from state lawmakers to sustain her office amid ongoing challenges from the Trump administration. As part of a coalition of Democratic attorneys general, Campbell's office is engaged in multiple lawsuits concerning issues like birthright citizenship and other federal actions. She highlighted the substantial returns her office generates for the state, asserting that continued funding is essential for countering the uncertainties and challenges emerging from Washington, D.C. Campbell's request for a $82.7 million budget contrasts with the state's proposed $76 million allocation for Fiscal Year 2026.
"The chaos we have seen from the last two months will likely be our new normal," she said.
"We need every single penny that we asked for," Campbell said.
"Our office remains the best investment in state government," she stated.
"We are here to defend the rights of the residents and to combat the uncertainties posed from Washington, D.C."
