The shifting support for Andrew Cuomo in his mayoral bid has stunned observers as many politicians who previously denounced him for sexual misconduct and COVID-related nursing home deaths have changed their tune. Over a third of elected officials endorsing him, including notable women, had previously demanded his resignation, creating a contradiction that has polarized the Me Too Movement. Critics, including Erica Vladimer, argue that this about-face represents a betrayal to victims of harassment.
Electeds' support for Cuomo is a slap-in-the-face betrayal to government workers everywhere, including their own staff. It's cowardly for anyone who rightfully spoke up against Cuomo four years ago to now say 'Ho hum, second chances, let the voters decide, etc.',' said Erica Vladimer, founder of the Sexual Harassment Working Group.
It is clear that there is a pattern of unacceptable and troubling behavior. The governor should resign or face impeachment,' Stavisky said on Aug. 3, 2021.
