Uncontested Divorce Clinic to expand access for Brooklyn litigants
Briefly

The Kings County Supreme Court launched an Uncontested Divorce Clinic to provide free legal assistance to residents without representation. The clinic aims to enhance accessibility to the court for individuals, especially families with children, undergoing divorce. By facilitating document preparation and offering legal advice, the clinic seeks to alleviate court backlogs. Judge Edwina Richardson highlighted the initiative as part of a broader effort to improve access to justice in New York while supporting those facing legal challenges.
This court-based legal clinic will provide free legal advice and document preparation for unrepresented court users both with and without children.
One thing we do is to try to make sure that people without representation are taken care of and treated at the same level as people who come into the courthouse with representation.
