A college student from Staten Island received a James Patterson '69 Scholarship from Manhattan University for the 2024-2025 academic year. This scholarship, established by the bestselling author and philanthropist, aims to assist deserving students amid the challenges facing higher education. The scholarships, awarded to juniors and seniors based on academic performance, financial need, and active engagement in university activities, highlight Patterson's commitment to supporting future leaders. Ivanna Duran, a digital media art major, is among the recipients, receiving $5,000 annually.
"It gives me great pleasure to continue this tradition at my undergraduate alma mater," said Patterson, in a press release. "The challenges facing higher education today are plentiful, and making these scholarships available to deserving students is so very important to me."
The scholarships were awarded to juniors and seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and involvement in activities aligned with the University's mission.
Ivanna Duran, a digital media art major from Staten Island, was one of several recipients of this scholarship. She will receive $5,000 each academic year.
This is the 13th year that the bestselling author and philanthropist supported his undergraduate alma mater with these scholarships.
