New York City's public school students in grades 3-8 are undergoing computer-based English Language Arts and math tests amid previous technical issues experienced statewide. The tests will transition to an all-digital format, phasing out paper-based exams entirely by next year. While there were initial concerns after glitches appeared in earlier tests, New York's Education Department confirmed that NWEA has resolved these issues, assuring officials there are no current tech concerns as they prepare for the upcoming tests.
"To date, across New York State, over 400,000 computer-based testing sessions have been successfully submitted by students," state Education Department spokesperson JP O'Hare said.
"We coordinated with the New York State Department of Education to provide details on the cause and steps we have taken to ensure this does not happen moving forward," an NWEA spokesperson said.
