Sorry, kids: YouTube is raising the minimum age for solo livestreaming to 16
Briefly

YouTube is changing its livestreaming policy, raising the minimum age for unaccompanied streaming from 13 to 16, effective July 22. Younger users can still livestream but must be visibly accompanied by an adult who actively participates in the stream. Failure to comply will result in stream removal and potential account termination. Additionally, minors under 16 will need to grant an adult limited access to their channel, reinforcing supervision and accountability in the livestreaming space.
As of July 22, YouTube will require users to be at least 16 years old to livestream unaccompanied, up from the previous minimum of 13.
Those under 16 must be visibly accompanied by an adult who engages in the livestream, ensuring co-creation between the minor and adult.
YouTube plans to remove livestreams breaking these new rules and restrict accounts trying to bypass the restrictions on different channels.
Minors under 16 will need to give an adult access to their channel for livestreaming, as accountability measures increase.
