Palestinian Child Killed in Israeli Prison After Being "Systematically Starved"
Briefly

Walid Khalid Abdullah Ahmad, a 17-year-old, has become the first documented Palestinian child to be killed in an Israeli prison. His autopsy revealed severe malnutrition, untreated diseases, and evidence of beatings by prison guards. Advocacy group Defense for Children International-Palestine noted that his suffering constitutes a violation of international law, highlighting the extreme conditions in which Palestinian child detainees are subjected. Ahmad's death underscores ongoing concerns regarding the treatment of minors in Israeli custody, as authorities withhold his body from his family, further complicating the tragedy of this case.
"Walid's autopsy indicates that Israeli prison guards systematically starved and abused him for months until he finally collapsed, struck his head, and died," said Ayed Abu Eqtaish.
"Starvation is a tool of genocide, seeking to weaken and ultimately destroy both the body and spirit of Palestinian child detainees held in Israeli prisons," said Eqtaish.
DCIP said that it was clear that Ahmad was denied medical care, despite suffering from numerous life-threatening conditions - a "clear violation" of international law.
