Major Sorffly Davius, a New York City police officer serving with the 42nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army National Guard, died Friday at Camp Buehring in Kuwait during Operation Epic Fury. Davius joined the NYPD in 2014 and was assigned to the 79th Precinct. Prior to his overseas deployment, he served with distinction on Joint Task Force Empire Shield, a New York National Guard security unit protecting the state's critical locations. Governor Kathy Hochul, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch honored his service to both his country and New York City. His death marks one of seven U.S. service members killed since recent military operations in the Middle East began.
