New York mother who drowned her 3 children in ocean sentenced to 20 years to life
A 34-year-old Brooklyn woman pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of her 7-year-old, 4-year-old, and 3-month-old children. Prosecutors said she took the children to the Coney Island beach shortly after midnight on Sept. 12, 2022, and drowned them in the ocean. She then walked more than two miles toward Brighton Beach, where the father of her youngest child lived. Family members became alarmed after she called them while upset and refused to answer questions about the children’s whereabouts. Police found the children around 4:30 a.m. along the shoreline, wet and unresponsive, and they were later pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital. The woman’s family reported she said the children were gone and that she was sorry. She was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
"Officers found the children around 4:30 a.m. along the shoreline, the release noted. They were wet and unresponsive, and later pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital. "When the defendant's family members found her in Brighton Beach wet and barefoot, she repeatedly said that the children were gone and that she was sorry, according to the investigation," per the release."
