The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) launched a student-designed billboard aimed at promoting motorist caution in work zones coinciding with National Work Zone Awareness Week. Designed by Taino Mendez from Alfred E. Smith Career and Technical High School, the poster advocates for safety with its slogan: "Slow Down! My Mom Works Here". Competing against 130 entries, Mendez's design stresses the impact of workplace safety on families and emphasizes the essential role of female workers in such environments. The billboard will be displayed in Astoria and various ferry terminals as part of a larger awareness campaign.
"Slow Down! My Mom Works Here," encourages motorists to respect work zones highlighting the critical safety of workers near live traffic; designed by a NYC high school student.
The poster competition inspired students to create awareness about the importance of safe driving near work zones while recognizing the contributions of female workers.
