Cops not charging perv teacher for kissing autistic student in school bathroom because nonverbal pupil can't tell her story: mom
Briefly

A North Carolina teacher has been accused of kissing a 5-year-old autistic girl, Journey, in a school bathroom, but police have dropped the case. The incident, observed by another staff member, led to concerns from the girl's mother, Elizabeth Szumski, who claims the school failed to act appropriately afterwards, leaving her daughter in the classroom. Szumski reported her daughter’s behavioral changes to the school, only to be told the family needed to adjust. With no charges filed due to the child's nonverbal status, concerns about the ongoing safety of students remain unresolved.
"They didn't even remove my daughter after, they just left her in the classroom after it happened," Elizabeth Szumski fumed in a phone interview.
"I said, 'There's nothing wrong with her. In the morning she wakes up very happy, but the moment she sees her backpack is when she has a meltdown.'"
"She can't tell me what's bothering her. I'm never going to know. It's a guessing game and if I'm not there, I can't see what's bothering her."
"Despite Szumski taking the incident to Huntersville cops, no charges have been filed - and the mother said the case was dropped because the victim was nonverbal."
