Childcare fees for those paying top rates to be reduced from September
"One critical aspect of the new fee cap is that it aims to significantly reduce the financial burden on parents, with a target of €200 per month still in focus."
"Minister Norma Foley emphasized that while the current maximum fee is set at €295 weekly, efforts will be made incrementally to reach the €200 monthly commitment."
The Children's Minister Norma Foley has announced a maximum fee cap for early learning and childcare services, capping fees at €295 per week. This is part of a move to align fees closer to the average rate of €197, and will be implemented from September for services under Core Funding. Parents will additionally benefit from a subsidy reducing actual fees to €197.80 weekly. While funding for these services will increase significantly over the next two years, the government aims to eventually reach a monthly fee of €200, indicating a gradual approach to affordability improvements.
