Brooklyn Pet Store Owner Accused of Selling Pigeons to Hunters
Briefly

A Brooklyn pet store owner, Michael Scott of Broadway Pigeon & Pet Supplies, has been accused by local pigeon keepers of abducting pigeons from parks to sell them to hunters for shooting practice. Tina Piña, a local pigeon enthusiast, reported witnessing the capture of her birds, linking the incidents to pigeon shoots. While Scott's brother denied the accusations, claiming they only sell their own bred pigeons, there have been past admissions of selling birds for shooting contests. Piña is mobilizing protests to combat these practices.
As the New York Post reports, pigeon keepers allege Michael Scott, co-owner Broadway Pigeon & Pet Supplies, kidnaps pigeons from local parks before trafficking them to hunters-a practice that's against the law.
Scott says pigeon enthusiasts are framing the store for the kidnappings, though a lawyer for Michael Scott in 2008 conceded that the store sold birds for use at a pigeon-shooting contest in Pennsylvania.
