The Ponys Drummer Nathan Jerde Has Died
Briefly

Nathan Jerde, the drummer of the Chicago-based band the Ponys, has passed away, as confirmed by Matador Records. Jerde was highly regarded not only for his drumming talent but also for his character. The Ponys, formed in 2001, initially started as a three-piece band and evolved into a quartet, gaining recognition for their unique blend of garage rock and mod influences. Their journey included notable albums and tours, although they haven't been active in recent years, with brief reunions occurring sporadically. Jerde's passing undoubtedly marks a significant loss for the music scene.
Jerde was an awesome guy and a fantastic drummer. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
The Ponys began their life as a three-piece...and have since stayed off the radar, resurfacing briefly in 2017.
