The seventh annual Geek Out At Staten Island took place at PS 59 and the North Shore Esplanade, celebrating geek culture particularly through cosplay, diversity, and creativity. The event, established in July 2019 by Najah Abdul-Qawiyy, was moved to West Brighton for better visibility and accessibility. Participants enjoyed a variety of activities including food vendors, an artist alley featuring indie creators, live performances, a cosplay contest with prizes, and panels focusing on various geek-related topics, all free to the public.
"This year's all-day event was packed with fan-favorites and new surprises, including food vendors offering diverse ranges of food, a lively artist alley, and live performances throughout the day."
"Abdul-Qawiyy said, 'Last year, we were at Snug Harbor, but we moved to West Brighton to be in a more active area...we wanted to have it where, no matter if you're passing by, or if you're in the neighborhood, you see what's going on and become a part of it...'"
