""There are lots of questions in the lyrics, a lot dealing with the idea of: You wanted this, didn't you? What do you do now that you have it? Is it what you expected? There is also a moment of humility towards the end, with the acknowledgement that even if we don't necessarily want to 'work' there is a power in being a part of something larger than yourself.""
""Their fourth LP is led by the single "Button." Give that new song a listen below. Katz wrote "Button" after beginning a full-time office job in 2023 that shifted his perspective on his identity. Doppelgänger follows Peaer's 2019 album A Healthy Earth. In the years since then, Peaer never stopped working on new music, despite their 2020 tour plans being derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.""
Peaer is a New York slowcore trio started by bandleader Peter Katz in 2014. Doppelgänger will be released January 16 via Danger Collective as the band's first album in nearly seven years. The fourth LP is led by the single "Button," which Katz wrote after beginning a full-time office job in 2023 that shifted his sense of identity. "Button" centers on small moments and their impact, posing questions about desire, possession, and expectations, and ends with a humbled recognition of the value of belonging to something larger. The new album collects material from across the band's career, including ideas dating to 2015 and the previously released track "Just Because." Peaer continued creating music despite a 2020 tour cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
