This article reflects on a band's unique and contradictory journey. While they have enjoyed a lengthy career in music and created art for a living, they have not experienced traditional success, as indicated by low press coverage and minimal mainstream recognition. Nevertheless, a loyal audience has sustained their career through ups and downs, allowing them to thrive without major industry endorsements. The band's gratitude extends to the small team that supported them, emphasizing the importance of community in their grassroots success.
This band has always been a jumble of contradictions. On the one hand, we've had a long-running career where we got to make art for a living. But on the other hand, we have always eluded any kind of traditional success.
When I reflect on how good our career was and how lucky we were, I'm left with just gratitude for the small team of folks who have worked with the band and this grassroots fan following that has lifted us up the entire time.
