Los Angeles singer-songwriter Johanna Samuels released singles “Two People, The Moon” and “White Limousine” featuring Courtney Marie Andrews, and announced her new album Sorry, Kid for August 14 via Odd Man Out Recordings and Jealous Butcher. The album was produced by Jonathan Rado and includes guest appearances from Madison Cunningham, Erin Rae, Jordan Lehning, and others. Samuels described the album’s songs as moving from questions toward resolutions. She also shared the single “Circles” featuring Tyler Ballgame, written when she was 20 in New York City. She connected the song to Elliott Smith’s music, the infinity symbol, and “Figure 8,” reflecting on feeling deeply and numb at the same time, community, and the hope that kindness and love ultimately win.
"“I hoped (and still do) that there is an underlying kindness and a goodness at the bottom of it all; that love and honesty win in the end.” “Playing it again after all these years I hear that the song is about the idea that we are all tiny little universes of self experience and that we can only take in so much truth at a time... it sometimes feels like experientially our 'Eureka!' moments are much like the axis of a figure 8,” she adds."
