Joan Shelley announces new album & tour, shares "Everybody"
Briefly

Joan Shelley will release her 10th solo album, Real Warmth, on September 19 through No Quarter. The album was recorded in Toronto with Ben Whiteley and Jake Xerxes Fussell, featuring contributions from notable musicians. The first single, 'Everybody,' emphasizes themes of genuine connection and contrasts it with the facades presented online. The album aims to reflect urgency and community spirit amidst a particular political context. Joan Shelley is set to embark on a fall tour with multiple dates scheduled across several cities, including a show in Brooklyn on October 22.
"We had a few windows in mid-winter and it really felt like there was an urgency to capture a moment in time with these songs, performances, people involved, and against the political backdrop," says Ben Whitely. "The record really feels like a capture instead of a meticulous construction. Part of Joan's concept was not only to go to a place but to draw on the community of musicians from that place."
The first single from the album is the lovely 'Everybody,' which Joan says is about 'The warmth of actual bodies: connection and belonging as opposed to the facades we show each other, in person and also in the lifeless online world.'
