Hulu Staked the Buffy Reboot
"So, I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me. Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy: New Sunnydale."
"I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy's stylish yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chloé, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you. And this doesn't change any of that."
"And I promise, if the apocalypse actually comes, you could still beep me."
Hulu has decided to cancel the Buffy: the Vampire Slayer reboot titled Buffy: New Sunnydale after approximately one year of development. Sarah Michelle Gellar announced the cancellation directly to fans, expressing sadness about the decision. The project featured director Chloé Zhao, writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman from Poker Face, and Ryan Kiera cast as the new Slayer. Gellar acknowledged the creative team's work and expressed her love for the character and what the project meant to the fanbase, while maintaining that the cancellation doesn't diminish her appreciation for the reboot's vision and the people involved.
