Carol Kaye says she is "declining" her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction
Briefly

Carol Kaye, the legendary session bassist, announced she will not attend the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, criticizing the event for its failure to honor studio musicians accurately. At 90 years old, Kaye expressed her long-held concerns about the term 'Wrecking Crew', which she believes insults the contributions of her peers. In her statement, she emphasized the teamwork involved in music production and articulated her preference for the more inclusive term 'Studio Musicians'. Kaye is recognized for her extensive recording history and significant impact in the music industry.
NO I won't be there. I am declining the [Rock & Roll Hall of Fame] awards show... turning it down because it wasn't something that reflects the work that Studio Musicians do.
You are always part of a TEAM, not a solo artist at all. There were always 350-400 Studio Musicians... working in the busy 1960s.
Please know our only name was Studio Musicians. I’m not sure if I can put up with their 'wrecker' ID to go to it.
