Our Wicked Lady, a music venue in East Williamsburg, will permanently close on July 21, five years after the COVID-19 pandemic forced its initial shutdown. Co-owners Zach Glass and Keith Hamilton transformed the space into a community hub for music. Despite efforts to reopen, rising costs and shifting patron behaviors hindered recovery. A GoFundMe raised $42,000 in community support, but a landlord’s refusal to proceed with a sale led to the venue's closure. Glass and Hamilton expressed heartbreak over the loss and acknowledged a decade of community and music connection.
We were extremely close to locking in an ownership transfer for Our Wicked Lady when we were thrown a massive curve ball. Our landlord decided he does not want a music venue to continue on his property and refused a near sale.
This is heartbreaking news for us. After all our work and all the support from our community, we are devastated to share that OWL will close July 21st, the week of our ten-year anniversary.
