"I feel like Misty is a great choice... They wanted someone who was a trailblazer and someone who showed resilience, which I feel she perfectly embodies."
"That was our biggest goal - showcasing as many seniors as we could... we see Convocation as a celebration of not a few of us, but all of us."
Misty Copeland, who made history as the first Black woman principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre, will deliver the keynote address at the Senior Convocation on May 22, from 1-2:30 PM in Barton Hall. The senior class of 2025 chose Copeland for her embodiment of values like empathy and resilience. The event will celebrate the graduating class and include a student-speaker presentation, performances, and remarks from university leaders and will focus on showcasing each senior's achievements.
