Misty Copeland, who made history as the first Black woman principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre, will deliver the keynote address at the Senior Convocation on May 22, from 1-2:30 PM in Barton Hall. The senior class of 2025 chose Copeland for her embodiment of values like empathy and resilience. The event will celebrate the graduating class and include a student-speaker presentation, performances, and remarks from university leaders and will focus on showcasing each senior's achievements.
I feel like Misty is a great choice... They wanted someone who was a trailblazer and someone who showed resilience, which I feel she perfectly embodies.
That was our biggest goal - showcasing as many seniors as we could... we see Convocation as a celebration of not a few of us, but all of us.
