He left Texas' No. 1 BBQ restaurant. Now he's opening in New York

Jonny White, co-founder of Goldee's BBQ in Texas, is opening Kirbee's, a new Texas-style craft barbecue restaurant in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood. White moved to New York six months ago to expand the barbecue concept beyond Texas. The restaurant will occupy a former fried chicken stand at 55 McGuinness Boulevard South and will be designed to replicate Goldee's aesthetic with red and white paint. Goldee's, founded in 2020 by White and childhood friends Jalen Heard and Lane Milne, was ranked number one on Texas Monthly's list of the state's 50 best barbecue joints in 2021. The venture features pitmaster Teresa "Chuck" Charnichart, known for her ribs and brisket.
